Martí-Miralles Arquitectes was founded in Barcelona in 1990 by Ramon Martí and Antonio Miralles; architects with extensive professional experience who trained at the School of Architecture of Barcelona. Early projects were for national competitions and served to define our working guidelines. Since then, we have planned and constructed buildings and have taken part in national competitions, a practice which has encouraged us to design different formal solutions and continuously update the way we work in the office.
Our projects are meticulous, austere and well planned, and also respond to financial considerations. One of the objectives of our current work is the construction of energy efficient buildings as this corresponds to the principles for sustainable development.
The firm’s main activity is housing projects. To date, we have built 700 dwellings, 250 more are under construction and 73 are to be built. Most are social housing promoted by public developers from Barcelona and the surrounding area. Our aim is to solve one of the population’s basic needs: well designed, comfortable and efficient housing.
We have also designed health and educational buildings and undertaken the occasional town planning project and urban design.
We have a commitment to developing bioclimatic buildings, which incorporate climatic control measures within the buildings themselves as a response to improving sustainability in architecture.

RAMON MARTÍ PUZO, ARCHITECT
1971 Completed Baccalaureate studies at the Barcelona Lycée Français.

1978-81 Consultant in different professional firms in Barcelona (BCG, Emili Donato, L35) undertaking building projects.
1982-88 Municipal Architect for Santa Coloma de Gramenet (130,000 ha), Barcelona, in the areas of Planning and Building Control.
1985-88 Employed by Área Metropolitana de Barcelona in the Urban Planning Department. Drafted various Development plans.
1988-1992 Barcelona Town Council. Head of Planning Permissions.
1990 Professional partnership with architect Ramon Martí Puzo.
