The personality of this site is typified by the presence of a unique element; the Vallcarca bridge, and by the steep gradient of the terrain. Urban planning and the development proposal tame the topography via different level platforms connected by accessible ramps, as well as by arranging the buildings into five repeating shapes with the same look, facing Avinguda de Vallcarca.
As our remit extends to just one part of this urban remodelling project (which has a greater scope than our intervention), we proposed a solution that adapts to the form and layout of the entire group of buildings.
Although, in reality the three buildings are in fact different in order to adapt to the demands of their own surroundings and plot sizes, all look the same and are understood as a series of identical buildings.
Urban planning allows us to design the buildings without taking up the entire length of the plot, which is then used to include balconies on the edge of the buildable land. This solution makes it possible to increase the apparent volume of the buildings in line with the urban scale of Avinguda de Vallcarca.
