The climate-controlled aviary and terrarium and the tempered-glass aviary are designed as two interrelated forms around a central square, unified by a viewing station over the marshlands and visitor ramps and walkways.
The aviaries are twin structures of two low half-moons covered with a 22 metre high mesh, which allows the birds to fly freely inside. The only difference between them is the contents and their coverings, one being mesh and the other glass.
The tempered aviary houses a display of the marshlands and salt flats that are found outside the dome, whilst the climate-controlled terrarium displays a sample of aquatic fauna from tropical regions.
A visit to the centre is designed as a route around the interior of the domes following walkways of varying levels. Different visual graphic and interactive elements along the route provide the visitor with educational and interpretive information.
